چکیده مقاله:

Background: Margarine contain trans fatty acids as major sources of dietary free radicals, and oxidative stress. Effect of oral administration of margarine on hepatic enzyme was investigated in Wistar rats. Methods: Thirty six (36) adult Wistar rats were uniformly divided into three groups of control , margarine 15% and 20%, twelve rats in each groups (6males & 6 females). Margarine was added to the second and third groups chow as 15% and 20% (w/w) respectively. After four months, their blood samples were obtained and the serum levels of Aspartate Amino Transferase (AST) and Alanine amino transferase (ALT) were measured. Results: Serum levels of AST and ALT in margarine groups were higher than control groups, but it was not significant. Treatment of rats with margarine were not significantly alter the serum levels of liver enzymes in all groups. Conclusion: This result suggests that consumption of margarine may not be toxic at the doses investigated.

Aspartate Amino - Alanine Amino - Lactate Dehydro - Isoenzymes Creatine Kinase transferase

Heart tissue injury may release cardiac enzymes into the circulation and elevate serum enzyme levels (LaDue, Wroblewski, and Karmen, 1954). Many enzymes become raised, but three enzymesaspartate aminotransferase (EC 2.6.1.1), creatine kinase (EC 2.7.3.2), and lactate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.27)-have proved of particular diagnostic value. In addition, determination of lactate dehydrogenase isoen...

Enzymes of Amino Acid Metabolism in Normal Human Skin Ii. Alanine and Aspartate Transaminases*

drogenase in normal human skin. In comparison with glutamate dehydrogenase, which catalyzes reversible oxidative deamination, the transaminases catalyze transfer of amino groups, usually from an amino acid to a ketoacid, without net loss of nitrogen. In other words, transamination represents the intermolecular exchange of amino nitrogen. Transamination plays a significant role in metabolism by ...

Abstract Background: Walnut (Juglans regia L.) is widely distributed all over the world. Dry seeds, (nuts), as well as green walnuts, shells, bark, green husks (epicarps) and leaves, have all been used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. In the present study, hepatoprotective potential of ethanolic extract of walnut leaves was investigated against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) induc...

Effect of Ramadan fasting on alanine transferase (ALT) in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

Background: The effects of Ramadan fasting on NAFLD are unknown and there are very limited studies have done in this area. Some nutritional and behavioral changes of fasting people in Ramadan can affect NAFLD. These include nutrition with high fat and calories, altering in weight and sleep and low physical activity. We decided to evaluate the effects of these changes on one of the important ind...
